Malaysia to cover postal delivery costs for patients' medicines from 1 October

Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil announced on 26 September that the government will bear the postal delivery cost of medicines from 1 October.
Patients who opt for the service will no longer pay for delivery themselves.
The Communications Ministry will help the Health Ministry provide the service through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
It will be rolled out nationwide with an allocation of about RM5 million.
It is expected to benefit about 80,000 patients a month.
Fahmi spoke after visiting the Persada digital health connectivity project at Padang Besar Health Clinic in Perlis.

Start date: 1 October 2026 Allocation: RM5 million Patients per month: 80,000
Why it matters for exams: It is an example of telecom and postal infrastructure being used to widen access to public healthcare.
