Pakistan's cybercrime agency arrests a man wanted in the United States over a $126m counterfeit postage case

Pakistan's cybercrime agency has arrested a man in a case of a counterfeit operation that caused 126 million dollars in losses to the United States Postal Service, in an arrest reported on October 21, 2026. The man, Faheem Akram, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Florida last month for selling more than five million counterfeit shipping labels to thousands of customers in the United States, through a fraudulent website operating since 2023. Authorities have now shut down the website. Earlier in October 2026 the United States Postal Inspection Service had offered a reward of up to 100,000 dollars for information in the case.

Losses caused: $126 million (£94m) Counterfeit labels sold: more than five million counterfeit shipping labels Reward offered: up to $100,000
Why it matters for exams: It shows cross-border cybercrime enforcement and the role of a federal grand jury indictment, both examinable concepts.
