Saudi Arabia postpones the tenth Future Investment Initiative conference
20 October 2026
Saudi Arabia has postponed the tenth edition of the Future Investment Initiative, the investment conference informally called Davos in the Desert, which was to run from 26 to 29 October 2026. Organisers announced the decision in a statement on 19 October 2026 and said it is put off to next year, with a new date to be announced very soon. The decision follows weeks of Houthi attacks on military, energy and civilian infrastructure in the kingdom, including the headquarters of Aramco and the airport at Riyadh, where strikes killed at least 18 people and wounded hundreds this month. The chief executive of the Future Investment Initiative Institute, Dr Maha Bint Mishari Al Saud, said the decision comes from a deep commitment to the conference's partners, members, speakers and delegates, and that the tenth edition should deliver the full scale and quality the community expects.
