Second edition of the Pangolin Cup 2026 opens at Meluri to promote the protection of pangolins
26 October 2026
The second edition of the Pangolin Cup 2026 opened at the Meluri Local Ground on 26th October 2026. The football event uses sport to draw local communities into wildlife conservation, with special attention to the protection and preservation of pangolins. A local sports body organised it together with a national wildlife charity and other partners. At the opening, speakers warned that pangolins face a real risk of vanishing from the area. They asked villages to treat conservation as shared work, much like teamwork on the field. The idea is that people who live alongside wildlife are its best guardians when they take part in protecting it.
