President Murmu gives assent to the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority Bill 2026
25 October 2026
The Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) Bill 2026 has received the assent of President Droupadi Murmu. The Nagaland Legislative Assembly had passed the Bill without a single dissenting vote on September 3, 2026. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio shared the news through a post on the social media platform X. He thanked the President and credited the Union Home Ministry with coordinating the process. Rio called the assent a key step towards meeting the aspirations of the people of Eastern Nagaland. A bill passed by a state legislature and reserved for the President can become law only after the President signs off on it.
In plain words
