Labour and Women and Child Development Minister Bindu Krishna said the State will frame a new comprehensive women's policy aimed at women's safety and mental health.
Suggestions and opinions will be collected from various sections of society, and the policy is to be announced on the next International Women's Day.
She said departmental monitoring and strict inspections will be used to make sure complaint cells work in every institution, and called it serious that women who complain still fear losing their jobs or being humiliated.
Under the POSH Act 2013 an internal complaints committee must function in every establishment with ten or more employees.
She spoke at a state level seminar on the POSH Act 2013 and women's mental health organised by the Women's Commission at the Thaikkad Government Rest House, Thiruvananthapuram. Commission chairperson Adv. P. Satheedevi said the protection of existing laws will reach women only if men too are made aware.

A Division Bench of Justice Anil K. Narendran and Justice Muralee Krishna S. of the Kerala High Court set aside a detention order and its confirmation under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 2007 in Ayishath Ruksana v. State of Kerala, WP(Crl). No. 1247 of 2026.
The Court held that the detaining authority must supply the detention order and the material documents to the detenu in a language he knows. The detenu, a Kannada speaker, was not given translated copies of the Malayalam documents, which violated his right under Article 22(5) of the Constitution to make a representation against the detention.
Being informed of the contents orally was held not enough to satisfy Article 22(5).
The Court rejected the claim that the detention order was a verbatim copy of the sponsoring report and found no merit in the complaint about illegible documents. It directed the jail superintendent to release the detenu unless he was required in another case. The decision is reported as 2026 LiveLaw (Ker) 587.

Kerala's Labour and Women and Child Development Minister has said a new women's policy will be framed and that complaint cells in institutions will be monitored; this note explains the committee that law already requires.
Under the POSH Act 2013, an internal complaints committee must function in every establishment with ten or more employees.
The committee is the forum to which a complaint of sexual harassment at the workplace is made, so where it does not function the statutory remedy is not available even though the law applies.
At the state level seminar on the POSH Act 2013 and women's mental health held by the Kerala Women's Commission, the Minister said these committees function only in name in many establishments and that departmental monitoring and strict inspections would follow.

The Kerala High Court has asked road safety authorities for practical steps rather than a formal counter, and junction development work has closed the Vellanad-Uriyacode road; the state's own research body in this field is NATPAC. The National Transportation Planning and Research Centre (NATPAC) was established by the Government of Kerala in 1976 to develop solutions to the traffic and transportation problems faced by the State. It was reconstituted as an autonomous R&D Centre under the Science, Technology and Environment Committee (STEC), Government of Kerala, in 1982, and in November 2002 it was amalgamated with the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE). Its milestones range from early involvement in the 1982 Delhi Asiad to foundational studies that led to the declaration of National Waterway No. 3. Its scientific and technical staff are organised into four scientific divisions, and its main campus in Thiruvananthapuram has a built-up area of 16,000 sq.ft.
