Kerala has launched a digital system to register and follow up public complaints that reach the Home Minister directly.

Under the system a complaint is registered at once, the complainant is told what action follows, and the status can be checked online.
Alongside it the Home Department will run a project called HOMeS, which puts a dashboard in the minister's office for real-time monitoring of matters such as missing-persons cases and fraud cases.
The minister said the system will be used only to track the progress of investigations and improve coordination between wings, and will not interfere with police investigations.

Attendance rule prevails: Division Bench keeps suspended Kalady students out of the exam hall

A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court has set aside a single judge's interim order that had let suspended students of the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit at Kalady sit their examinations.
Justices Anil K. Narendran and S. Muralikrishna held that the single judge's order ran contrary to the rules.
Ten of the suspended students will therefore not write the examinations that begin the next day.
The appeal was filed by Vice-Chancellor Ciza Thomas, who had taken the position that the students who joined the protest did not have the attendance the rules require.
The Division Bench accepted the attendance requirement as the basis for keeping them out.
The students had been suspended over a protest on the campus.
The single judge had earlier allowed them to appear, and the university took that order in appeal.
